Story of Makhaya Mdoti

“It was never my dream to be a farmer, but when the opportunity came my way it was too good to let it pass me by.” So says Victor Makhaya Mdoti, who is quick to admit that the circumstances that brought him to farming were far from ideal. He grew up in Mtebele in the Amathole Discrict Municipality, where he worked as a Bus Ticket exam. In 1970s he was retrenched and spent months fruitlessly job hunting. Then he and his wife Nokholekile Mdoti decided to start a farming business with the little amount they have, life was so tough for them but today you cannot believe that they are above the sky
